In Matanzas, fiestas for Elegua always involve lots of children and lots of sweets. Sometimes there are toys, too, when the person throwing the party can afford them. Here, the adults are preparing the piñata (dividing up the strings, which will open the trap door in the bottom). The children (and adults!) crowd around in anticipation.
